Sick Of Being Fat Article:

Secrets of the Atkins Diet

The controversial Atkins Plan is all the rage, but is it the answer to your weight issue?

Many weight conscious people have discovered a new way to lose weight in a short period of time. The Atkins Diet is a low carbohydrate based diet plan, which is very similar to a low carb diet. The idea behind this diet is to replace carbohydrates with fats and proteins, in particular meat.

Instead of carbohydrates, meat is used to help break down food. With meat and other fats, the Atkins Diet is designed for the user to intake foods that digest quicker in the body. In turn this triggers the digestive system in a way where it will speed up the energy making process without a large intake of water. This will cause energy to be produced much quicker and a rapid fat loss process to begin. This is one of the most successful short term diet plans.

The original studies of the Atkins Diet showed that within obesity problems the main issues were that these people ate refined carbohydrates and saturated fats, which contributed to their condition. This caused instability in insulin levels from eating an excessive amount of carbohydrates, which leads to depression, mood swings and sleep deprivation. Through the Atkins plan, food cravings are eliminated and insulin levels are stabilized once the diet is in place. Studies have shown that protein reduces the desire for people to eat, and prolongs any feelings of them feeling sedated. Dr. Atkins found a common link between proteins and cells with a protein molecule that work together to activate controls over appetite within the human brain. Due to this finding, the Atkins Diet does advise users to take supplements to help the weight loss process.

One of the main forms of carbohydrates that are restricted in the Atkins Diet is net carbs. These are the forms of carbs that commonly get users of this diet plan into trouble. Food with high fructose levels, such as junk food, is some of the prime items that are on the restricted list. These kinds of foods are what affect the blood sugar levels and cause problems with increased insulin.

The Atkins Diet is a short term solution for rapid weight loss. But some studies have shown that due to the lack of insulin production this diet could lead to future health risks such as heart disease. In addition, some reports of fatigue have also surfaced among dieters.

The Atkins Diet is one of the many wonder diet plans that has been introduced and met with mixed results. Some people have warmed up to it, while others despise the concept. The bottom line is that only the person who is following the Atkins Diet can control whether or not it works for him or her.

9th grade science projects get kids learning about science, yet they won't even realize they're "learning." Simple science projects are sometimes the best way to demonstrate scientific principles in a hands on way.

Astrobiologists at NASA and elsewhere are now seriously considering the possibility that life on Earth originated outside the planet and was brought into it by space debris impacting its surface over vast stretches of time. Do these space debris only contain ordinary matter? The scope of evolution will be considerably broadened if they also contain dark matter. Were the first cells a composite of dark and ordinary matter? Did dark matter bodies co-evolve with ordinary matter bodies?

Biologists are beginning to realize that co-operation was just as important as competition in the evolution of life's diversity and resilience. Every cell in the human body contains a mitochondrion which is thought to be a bacterial cell which invaded an early eukaryote. Instead of being digested, both cells tolerated each other and began to live with each other - a merger which provided synergies to both.

It seems saving the planet is a big deal, a world-wide goal, but, if we are truly going to save the planet we need to consider a few things first. For instance can 10 Billion people live on the surface of the planet and if so, will the planet sustain them all? How about 15 or 20 Billion? Well, at our current consumption levels most likely not. What if we reduce or consumption; can it be possible then?

Today, although it is somewhat uncommon many are living over 100-years of age. Each year more and more people make it to their centurion years. Have you ever wondered what the high-end of human life span might be in the future? Well, sorry for the delay in the reply to this question of your, I do believe it does deserve a legitimate answer. So, will it be possible for humans to live to be 250, 500 or even 1,000 years old?
